Mumbai, Inde: Civic body forms panel to revive citizens’ groups

The civic body wants to revive the Advanced Locality Management (ALM) groups in the city in order to promote citizens’ initiatives. It has formed a core committee comprising members of different ALMs, civic officials and Srikrishna Bhagwant, officer on special duty in charge of ALMs, so that the citizens’ groups and the civic body can share experiences and draw up a plan to increase co-ordination and step up ALM activities. There are more than 750 ALMs in the city, but there have been new registrations with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the last two years
